Blitta a member of Dutch Green Building Council
Blittta has been a 'participant' of the Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC) since 2010. This independent non-profit organisation seeks to achieve permanent sustainability in the building sector.
To this end the DGBC develops certificates for independent assessment of buildings and areas as to their sustainability. The existing 'BREEAM-NL Nieuwbouw' seal of approval for offices, shops, schools, industrial buildings, ground-floor houses and apartments will be supplemented in 2011 by the 'BREEAM-NL Bestaande Bouw en Gebruik' (existing buildings and usage) and the 'Keurmerk Duurzame Gebiedsontwikkeling' (sustainable area development).
The DGBC was established in 2008 in response to an increasing demand of the building and real estate sector for assessment of sustainable development within this field. The council is a not-for-profit organisation and is not a (semi) public body. The DGBC participants provide the financial support for the foundation; they are the companies and trade organisations that put sustainability high on their list of priorities.
In order to anchor sustainability in their operations, the DGBC provides training for participants' employees so that they become experts in the field. Blitta has a number of BREEAM experts among its staff.
